How does the AI Overview checker work?

It runs your query against a live Google results page through a SERP provider, reads the AI Overview block if one appears, and lists the sources Google cites in it. If you give us your domain, we tell you whether it is in that citation list. Nothing is estimated: no AI Overview in the live result means we report none appeared.

How do I get my site cited in AI Overviews?

Pages that answer the query directly near the top, are crawlable by Google, and carry corroborating structure (clear headings, facts, schema) are the ones AI Overviews cite. Ranking in ordinary results helps but is not sufficient — AI Overviews frequently cite pages outside the top organic positions.

How this check works, exactly. We run your query on a live Google results page via a SERP provider and read the AI Overview block Google actually returned — the same answer a searcher sees, from which we extract the cited sources verbatim. AI Overviews vary by time, location and personalization, so a result is a sample, not a guarantee: if Google showed no AI Overview in our sample, we say so rather than guessing. Checking your domain is plain matching against the citation list — we never infer a citation that isn't there.

Common questions

Why does no AI Overview appear for my query?

Google shows AI Overviews for a minority of searches — mostly informational, question-shaped ones. Navigational and many commercial queries don't trigger one, and the same query can trigger one today and not tomorrow. A missing AI Overview is a finding about the query, not an error in the check.

How do I get cited in AI Overviews?
